DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies battled back with a goal late in the third to tie the game in Dawson Creek and ended up winning in overtime Friday night.

The Dawson Creek Junior Canucks started the game with two goals in the first period.  The Huskies quickly answered back with three goals from Sebastian Powsey, Gary Loewen and Jared Loewen.

In the second period, the Junior Canucks tied things at three with a goal two minutes before the end of the second period.

In the third, the Canucks started strong with two goals.  Gary Loewen scored for the Huskies with about 8 minutes left in the third, bringing the score to 5-4 for the Canucks.

With only 21 seconds left in the third, Joshua Robinson from the Huskies scored to tie the game at 5.

Overtime didn’t last long as the Huskies were able to quickly bring the game to an end.  Only 15 seconds into overtime, Jared Loewen scored making the final score 6-5.

The Huskies remain in first place in the NWJHL with only one game left in the regular season.  The teams final game of the regular season is Saturday night at the North Peace Arena against the Sexsmith Vipers.  The game is also Minor Hockey Night.  Any minor hockey players, under 19, that wear their team jersey will get into the game for free.  The game starts at 8 p.m.
