FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Men’s Rec League playoffs have begun after concluding their regular season last week.

The thirteen-team league consisted of the A and B sides with Rig Ratz being crowned Side A winners with a record of 12-1-1 while DRS won Side B with a record of 9-2-1.

“The regular season went very well,” said President Mike Hamre. “The surprise of a new Rig Ratz cleaning up most of the team in the league and only losing two games all season with both losses being to Jiffy Lube.”

In the postseason opener on Tuesday in the five-team Pool A, Jiffy Lube and Puckhunters skated to a 3-3 tie while on Wednesday night Big Horn fell to Rig Rats by the score of 5-2. In the four-team B Pool on Wednesday evening Epscan bested DRS 5-1.

Hamre feels that this year’s playoffs will be wide open with no early favourite.

“Playoffs have split into three divisions,” added Hamre. “The A-side favourite being the Rig Ratz, but last years defending league champions Big Horn will be looking to repeat though. The B-side favourite being Epscan with DRS a close second. The C-side favourite being D&T Disposals with all four teams being a possible contender.”

On Sunday, Jiffy Lube and MRC square off at 8:00 p.m. in Side A action, while Logix Legends and Epscan clash in B-side play at 9:45 p.m. In the Side C opener, D&T Disposals play FSJ Tropics at 9:15 p.m.
