Snowfall warning issued for the Pine Pass

CHETWYND, B.C. – A snowstorm could bring 20 cm of snow by Friday night over many parts of Highway 97 between Chetwynd and Prince George.

The snow is expected to start Thursday evening and intensify into Friday before moving out the area late Friday night.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.

  • Highway 97 – Pine Pass

Snow will begin this evening over Highway 97 – Pine Pass as a Pacific system approaches. As the system moves through the region, the snow will intensify Friday then ease off gradually Friday night. Total snowfall amounts may reach up to 20 cm by Friday midnight.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.
