Travel advisory lifted; blowing snow on many B.C. Peace highways

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A travel advisory has been lifted for the B.C. Peace.  According to Drivebc.ca, the highways in the B.C. Peace are listed as having limited visibility with blowing snow.

Snowfall warnings have also ended in the B.C. Peace, with Fort St. John receiving 19.8 cm of snow on Friday and Dawson Creek received 13.9.  The snowfall warning has also been lifted in the Alberta Peace.  The Grande Prairie Airport recorded 23.2 cm of snow on Friday.

A snowfall warning remains in place for many areas in Alberta including Whitecourt and Spruce Grove.  If you plan on travelling into Alberta, check the latest road conditions at 511.alberta.ca

The cold weather will continue for the rest of the weekend.  In Fort St. John the forecast calls for the wind to gust up to 20 km/h making it feel more like minus 39. The wind will drop a bit Saturday night leaving a windchill of minus 32.  Sunday will be much the same with a windchill of minus 32.
