FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — School buses in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek have been cancelled today.
In a post on its website, School District 60 said that all school buses in the North Peace have been cancelled on Friday because of poor road conditions on area side roads. This is the second day in a row that school buses have been cancelled north of the Peace River.
In the South Peace, all school buses serving schools in the Dawson Creek area have also been cancelled. School District 59 Transportation Manager Jeff Lekstrom said that at this point, Chetwynd area school buses are currently running on time but that the situation may change.
Lekstrom explained that while Dawson Creek did not get hammered with much snow, several areas in the South Peace are reporting extremely high amounts. He said that in one report from the Groundbirch area, a reported 76 centimetres of snow fell, with accumulations of over 60 centimetres between Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge.
