Two-step fundraiser at the Lido Theatre a success

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The 2nd Annual Two Steppin’ Honky Tonk’ N Good Time fundraiser dance was a success last weekend.

The dance, which was raising money for the Fort St. John Legion, saw several hundred residents pack the Lido Theatre last Saturday.

“We picked the Legion this year based on the fact that they don’t have the optics in the community,” said host Steven Cooper. “They don’t have the support that organised sports such as the dance, soccer and hockey do.”

Cooper and local sponsors including Done Rite Daylighting, Joe Loomis Trucking, home2 suites, ClearStream Energy, Safeway and Murray GM to name a few, assisted in throwing the event.

Attendees were treated to live music from Thick of Thieves, live and silent auctions and were entered into a draw for the chance to win $1,000.

“Despite the fact, we didn’t sell out because of the other events going on like the Crystal Cup and Huskies game,” added Cooper. “It was still a big hit. We are planning to make it a yearly event.”

Exact totals have not been tallied at this point, but it’s estimated that $6,000 to $7,000 was raised for kitchen upgrades at the Legion.
