HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. – With the Site C Dam progressing and BC Hydro continuing their work the Lynx Creek Campground will be closing their gates at the end of this summer.

Lynx Creek Campground is situated 7km north of Hudson’s Hope, on the shore of the Peace River and has been open for about 19 years. There have been three owners in that time, including Lee and Terry Clark who have owned the campground for the past 7 years.

January 25th, 2019 the announcement came on a FB post on the campground’s Page ‘With broken hearts, we are announcing this will be the LAST year Lynx Creek Campground will be open.’

Lynx Creek Campground is located close to town, it is a facility that offers full-service sites as well as tenting areas, being on the river there is an opportunity to fish and is a beautiful space to be outdoors.

The Clarks share, “We are not sure what is next for us. We thought we had more time so we don’t have any concrete plans yet. We did hope that BC Hydro would consider relocation on the new reservoir, but BC Hydro said this is not a possible option. We also hoped for more time, but the response was they need the property due to the highway project and need somewhere to park trucks.”

The Clarks told me they are heartbroken as they are losing their business and their home. They go on to share that when they jumped into the adventure 7 years ago they hoped Site C would never become a reality.

“Something about this little piece of the Peace, Steals a little part of your heart,” says Clark

There have been many memories created at the campgrounds like weddings including those of their daughters as well as club meets hockey windups, a visiting tour from Australia that has come 2 times a year for the past 7 years shared Clark.

“We have so many memories it is hard to pinpoint just one,” said Clark, “We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, new babies including our first
grandbaby. I get the best hugs from all the children when they come, we love to just sit and listen to the laughter echo down the River, we honestly have great memories with everyone that has stayed with us over the years,”

The Clarks would like to thank everyone for the patronage of their campground over the years and share they are thankful for everyone’s ongoing support.

“We hope that you all know how much you all truly mean to us, make this the best summer yet at Lynx Creek Campground and take time to sit and visit and let’s make as many new memories as we can,”
