FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Environment Canada says a period of very cold wind chills is expected tonight and into Friday.
A brisk north wind combined with overnight temperatures near -28C will create extreme wind chill values near -40 overnight and Friday morning.
Wind chill values will moderate to the mid -30s Friday afternoon.
Watch for cold-related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Remember to dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
Remember to cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with the wind chill.
