FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – On Saturday, February 9th, Five Star Boxing Academy in association with Casey’s pub hosted a “Burger & Brew” fundraiser event. Event goers were able to support by buying a special $20 menu item coming with the Classic Casey’s Burger and a Pint, buying a ticket to win a snowboard, or buying a ticket in the 50/50 draw.
The fundraiser raised almost $2000 from approximately 100 attendees. The event’s success may also be viewed as additionally impressive when a draw of the Fundraiser in large part was Casey’s Pub televising UFC 234, and the events numbers did not seem diminished by the Main Event of the card falling apart due to Champion Robert Whittaker’s surprise hernia.
The event was held to raise funds for Fivestar Academy boxer Brayden Sims to attend the Canadian Nationals Tournament held in late April. With a record of 16-3, Brayden is looking to claim the 60 kg gold medal this year and is moving forward with momentum, having defeated last years 64 kg national champion at Alberta Golden Gloves just this month past.
