GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. – The Fort St. John Flyers were down in Grande Prairie on Thursday night as they visited the Athletics for game five of the playoffs.
In the first period, there were no goals scored but there were a number of shots on goal. At the end of the first, shots on goal were 14-11 for Grande Prairie.
At 1:48 into the second period, the Athletics would score a goal making the score 1-0 over the Flyers.
Then at 8:39 into the frame, the Athletics would score another goal making the lead 2-0.
At 9:44 into the period, the Athletics would score a third goal making the score 3-0 over the Flyers.
Then at 8:53 remaining in the period, Jaxon Glass would score a goal on the A’s with assists from Rylan Sideroff and Joey Massingham making the score 3-1.
Another Flyers goal would come at 7:55 left in the frame as Clayton Bahm scored a goal with a feed from Lien Miller-Jeannotte and Robbie Sidhu making the score 3-2.
Then with 2:14 left the period, the Athletics would score another goal making their lead 4-2 over the Flyers as they headed into the third period.
In the third period, it was a matter of staying alive for the Flyers as they trailed 2 points behind the Athletics.
At 9:44 remaining in the game, in a power play, Reid Campbell would bury a goal into the net with assists by Adam Horst and Rick Cleaver making the score 4-3.
Then with 1:07 left in the period, the Athletics would score a goal on the Flyers extending their lead 5-3 over the Flyers.
To top off their lead, the Athletics would score a goal with 47 seconds left in the game, shutting the Flyers out of the playoffs. The final score would be 6-3.
With the season now over, the Flyers are looking forward to hosting the Coy Cup this March, the 26 to the 30, at the North Peace Arena.
