GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. – The Fort St. John Flyers were in Grande Prairie on Saturday night as they took on the Athletics for game three of the playoffs.
This was not the game the Flyers were expecting to see.
At 7:13 into the game, the Athletics would score a goal making the score 1-0 over the Flyers.
Then at 9:30 left in the period, Adam Horst would score a goal with assists by Ryan Carter and James Walsh making the score tied at one apiece.
In the second period, both teams battled to score a goal throughout most of the frame.
It wasn’t until 2:29 remaining when the Athletics would score a goal on the Flyers making the game 2-1.
Then with 43 seconds left in the period, the Athletics would score another goal making it a 3-1 lead over the Flyers as they headed into the third.
The third period would prove to be tough as both teams had a difficult time scoring a goal.
The Athletics would score their fourth and final goal at 1:27 left in the game.
With time running out, the Athletics would win this game 4-1 over the Flyers.
Currently, in the playoff standings, the Flyers have won only one game out of three.
Up next, the Flyers are home on Tuesday, February 12, as they host the Athletics for game four of the playoff series. Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. at the North Peace Arena.
