FAIRVIEW, A.B. – The Fort St. John Huskies were on the road Saturday as they took on the Fairview Flyers.
At 8:24 into the game, Nolan Legace would score a goal on the Flyers with an assist by Alex Nimmo making the score 1-0.
Then at 7:21 left in the frame, Fairview would score a goal tying the score at one apiece.
At 8:59 remaining in the second period, the Flyers would score another goal making the score 2-1 over the Huskies.
Then at 5:31 left in the frame, Matthew Apsassin made an unassisted goal, tying the score at two apiece.
Then with 2:51 remaining in the period, in a power play, Gary Loewen would score a goal with a feed from Jared Loewen making the score 3-2 over Fairview.
In the third period, the Huskies managed to maintain the lead for almost the whole 20 minutes, until at 3:27 left in the period the Flyers would tie up the score at 3-3.
This tie would result in five minutes of three-on-three overtime.
Even with five minutes of overtime, the tie was not broken.
The game would go to a shootout. Despite the Huskies best efforts, the Flyers would win this game 4-3.
Currently, in the NWJHL Standings, the Huskies are standing in second place with 43 points, one point behind the first place Dawson Creek Junior Canucks.
Up next, the Huskies will be hosting the Fairview Flyers this Saturday, February 9, at the North Peace Arena. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
