FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Literacy Society held their Mad Hatter themed Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 11, at the Lone Wolf Golf Club.

According to the Executive Director of the Literacy Society, Jessica Kalman, the Tournament was a fun event which was enjoyed by 80 golfers, adding that the Society was able to raise just a little over $5,000 through registrations, sponsorships, and raffles.

“The event was super fun and successful for our first golf tournament! We had 80 players join us and raised $5,060.33 through sponsorships, registrations and raffles.”

The money raised will go towards the Society’s literacy programming specifically for youth clients 18 years of age and under.

Some of the programs include:

  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book program
  • After School Home Work Help program
  • One-on-One Tutoring
  • Nutritional Literacy – to come this fall

Kalman extends a huge thank you to all who participated in this year’s Tournament.

The Fort St. John Literacy Society is a non-profit organization which has been dedicated to promoting literacy for all individuals and groups throughout Fort St. John and the local region since 1990.
