Notes

North Peace Optometry Clinic is closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are very sad to do this but decided it was necessary for the safety of our patients and staff. We do have staff working at the clinic 8am-5pm each day to assist you with your needs. We have a strict policy not to open the door, but we are resourceful and resilient to offer you the best service possible.

At this time our mission statement is to provide emergency vision and eye health services in order to keep patients with eye emergencies away from the hospital. Our goal is to reduce the burden on hospital resources and protect the public from infection of COVID-19. Our doctors are working very hard to develop a policy for clinic safety and strategy; and another policy for providing eye health services without direct patient contact, using communication technology. We are leaders in this area and are working to collaborate with other optometry clinics in our region to coordinate our effort.

We ask for your help by being patient with our team and respecting our policies. We also ask that you tell members of your family and community about our 24/7 eye emergency hotline: 250-785-8055.

Meanwhile, if you need glasses you can view our online gallery and our staff would be happy to have the prescription glasses shipped to your door at no charge. We offer complete glasses starting at $145 and include a warranty. We are also affiliated with vision avenue – a portion of proceeds from their website support our clinic. We also offer free shipping of contact lenses. We appreciate your support in this difficult time. We are working to keep our staff and doctors employed, so purchasing from our clinic makes a difference. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Herriot

North Peace Seniors Society As of today, outside visitors, other than family, close friends, and support workers, are not to enter our buildings. Even though the COVID-19 threat remains low in this area, we are trying to keep our seniors healthy by limiting exposure to all pathogens. This will enable them to better fight any illness that may pose a threat in the future.
We have cancelled all social activities, including carolling, hairdressing, and the income tax clinic. However, the pancake breakfast will proceed as usual, although we are not allowing outside visitors to attend until further notice.
Increased measures have been put in place within our buildings and kitchen to ensure products & protocols dealing with the prevention of infectious disease are followed.

(Last updated: March 21/2020)

NPVC COVID-19 updates from our team to your family:

MARCH 21, 2020: We are committed to being available to our clients and patients for urgent veterinary care and emergencies. In order to provide veterinary care and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we have implemented the following policies which will be updated as appropriate:

ENTRANCE TO THE CLINIC IS CURRENTLY RESTRICTED TO THOSE WITH BOOKED APPOINTMENTS. No walk-ins. If you don’t have an appointment, are picking up a prescription or pet food (no stockpiling please), or would like to consult with our team, please call 250-785-4578 or text 250-793-4718 from your vehicle upon arrival to arrange service.

Small animal appointments are restricted to emergencies, urgent care needs, ongoing clinical cases and puppy and kitten vaccines (must be kept on a regular schedule to ensure immunity). At this time we are delaying all elective surgeries and procedures.

Large animal appointments are restricted to emergencies and selected seasonally-required procedures.

As previously noted, do not come to the clinic or have us visit your farm if you are unwell for any reason, have travelled in the last 14 days, suspect you have been exposed to COVID-19, or you are in self-isolation. Note if you are in isolation, so are your pets.

Temporary business hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am-5:30 pm. We are closed Saturdays and Wednesday evenings indefinitely. Staffing during business hours has been reduced to provide social distancing and reduce risk. It’s important we all do our part to protect the health of our community in these challenging times. Please call if you have any questions. Spring will come!

MARCH 20, 2020: As always we strive to be available for our community, but in these extenuating circumstances we require your help to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • We have expanded our cleaning and disinfecting protocols within the practice as well as our staff sick leave policies.

  • Please DO NOT come to the clinic or book a farm call if you are unwell (for any reason) or if you have travelled anywhere outside Canada in the last 14 days. Call us for alternate arrangements if your animal requires urgent care.

  • If anyone in your household is in self isolation, the animals in the household are also part of the self isolation and should not be leaving the home.

  • Call us for advice if a pet requires urgent care. Do not book routine, non-urgent veterinary appointments.

  • Our boarding facility is not accepting any new reservations.
If you are picking up a pet who has been in boarding please check with clinic staff regarding pickup requirements (the above human health and travel requirements apply).

Practice social distancing in our waiting room if you meet the above criteria and need to visit the clinic.

Step back from the reception counter, provide adequate space between our team and other clients.

Please make use of our large waiting room and seating space. Do not bring family (including children) or friends with you if you need to visit the clinic. Only one person per visit please. If in any doubt, call us from your vehicle in our parking lot.

If you have specific questions, please call the clinic at 250-785-4578. We will keep you informed as the situation evolves. Take care everyone and do your part!
